The original 'Happy Gilmore' was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $41 million at the box office. The film starred Sandler as a failed hockey player who turns to golf to win back his grandmother's house. The film also featured Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Carl Weathers.

Details about the sequel are still scarce, but Sandler has said that the film will be a "continuation" of the original story. He has also said that he is excited to reprise the role of Happy Gilmore.
